Our Green Footprint Shrinks...

while the Centrafuse Market (and your wallet) GROWS!

'Fusers, don't forget: Earth Day is coming up! A time of year when we all take a second look at our carbon footprint with hopes of minimizing it, if only just a bit. Centrafuse hopes to do it's part, by digitally distributing it's software.

To help with the maximizing of our carbon footprint savings,

purchase Centrafuse between today and April 30th, and you can

Save up to 30 greenbacks*!

(Your discount will automatically be applied during checkout, no need for even a "coupon".

Coupons hate our mother earth. Offer ends April 30th at Midnight!)

But that's not all we have this week. With the Centrafuse Market live for just 3 months, we've already amassed an army of over 50 apps. That's almost more apps than we've ever had previously available! That means over 50 different ways to customize Centrafuse just how you want it. This is all thanks to users like you - creating and designing apps for our growing community, for which we endlessly thank you.

To access all of the apps currently available, just head on over to the online Market, or simply access the Market app directly within Centrafuse by pressing the button entitled Market.

Today, we wanted to highlight some of our favorite new apps that have appeared in the Market recently.

App_TripComputer

TripComputer - Looking to streamline and keep track of your daily drive?

Grab this app to help you track total driving times, average and top speeds, and several other options.

App_AppEmbed

AppLoader - Easily embed many Windows applications into Centrafuse,

quickly and painlessly. AppLoader even includes options to create custom

controlling buttons within.

App_sNES

SuperNES - Emulate and play back your favorite Super Nintendo® and Nintendo® games/ROMs with this integrated zNES emulator app.

There are many more apps, new ones in each category being added every day. Who knows, maybe you'll find a nice easter egg in there somewhere.

...and remember, more of your favorite apps are being developed and added to the Market daily, so check often!

If you can't find an app you're looking for, or have a great idea for a new one, drop a line in the Centrafuse Forums and request it, or even sign up for a developer account and start creating your own apps with the Centrafuse SDK.

The Upcoming 3.6 Update

The 3.6 update has began private beta testing this week, with over 20 bugs and features being addressed and repaired. We sincerely thank the community for their valuable feedback from 3.5 and hope to exceed their expectations again with the pending 3.6 update that is due to arrive near month's end.

We will send out another alert notifying when our users when and how this update will be available to download directly from within Centrafuse. Thanks for your patience!

Happy customizing everyone! If any questions arise, be sure to post in the forums for quick and easy help!

Introducing Centrafuse Market &
3.5 SDK featuring Centrafuse Studio

Sign up for the Market to access the new SDK 3.5, now includes Studio Beta 1

Hello everyone,

Please join us in celebrating the official launch and introduction of Centrafuse Market for Developers. We are now accepting developer sign ups. Sign up now and download the SDK from your account page.

Centrafuse Market

We are very excited to introduce Centrafuse Market, the in-vehicle app store, accessible from our latest release, Centrafuse Auto 3.5. This represents a major step forward for Centrafuse and its ever-growing developer community. The Market allows developers to focus on creating apps by removing the burden maintaing complex install and update instructions. Centrafuse Market streamlines and standardizes how plugin apps are created, deployed and updated. This means the developer can quickly and easily push updates out to customers, avoiding the hassle of relying on detailed instructions, minimizing end-user install issues. That the Centrafuse 3.5 SDK coincides with the release of the Centrafuse Market is no accident. This SDK has the documentation required to create a Market-compatible application package.

Check out our video overview of Market: LINK

Centrafuse Studio Beta 1

This release of our SDK is especially interesting because it includes the first ever public release of our new product, Centrafuse Studio Beta 1. Centrafuse Studio represents a major shift in the developer ecosystem as it allows for rapid prototyping of new and various HMI/UX approaches. Studio in its current form is able to edit and create modified versions of the current default main skin or plugin application skin. With advanced design-view features such as a control toolbox, complete with draggable controls, and active working canvas it is intended for making both very discrete changes to individual elements or changing several elements at once. By using Studio, HMI developers can avoid costly mistakes from having to directly edit the markup and more importantly significantly reduce the time required to create a new skin or HMI.

Centrafuse 3.5 SDK

In addition to Studio, the 3.5 SDK itself includes many other interesting and useful items for both developers and HMI designers alike. This includes Visual Studio code templates for the Centrafuse Open Interfaces such as AM FM Radio, Navigation, Audio Mixer, Text-to-Speech, Voice Recognition and Bluetooth Handsfree and Bluetooth Audio. Also included are code examples, one of which is a streaming radio example showing how to create a streaming media application. Many other updates can be seen from within Centrafuse Studio, such as new CMLActions and CMLText for greater control from the HMI or skinning layer, empowering the HMI designer to do more with CML markup, requring less underlying code changes.

Other notable SDK updates are new APIs for developers such as auto-scaling text labels, a new plugin event system, added support for plugin-defined voice commands and hotkeys. A new Voice Record API allows apps to record voice clips from within your app, and new Navigation API methods can be used to create your own navigation applications. New controls are now available, such as a new Gauge control which allows you to build richer diagnostic or monitoring utilities.

These are just some of the new items available in the new 3.5 SDK. For the official announcement and more detailed information, see the Centrafuse Market and 3.5 SDK release information thread

or download the SDK from your My Account page by signing up as a Market developer

There are other additions to the SDK, please download the complete Centrafuse 3.5 SDK from your account page and read through the documentation.

Thank you for sharing this momentous occasion with us. This is a huge step for the Centrafuse community and the official kick-off of the Centrafuse Market.

Enjoy! We can't wait to see some great new apps on the Market!!

Centrafuse 3.5 Official Announcement and Release Notes

Centrafuse 3.5 Release

We decided to switch gears a bit for our next Centrafuse update. Instead of going from 3.1 to 3.2, we're jumping all the way to 3.5, yep THREE FIVE! The Centrafuse 3.5 update, swollen with over 200 changes is so drastic, that you'd half expect it to be a full paid upgrade. This update is absolutely free to all of our loyal users and available for download today from your account page. New users should download the latest version from the Trial Download page here. We thank you for your patience with this release, and hope you enjoy it!

Here are the major changes:

Centrafuse Market - We’re pleased to announce the inclusion of Centrafuse Market with the 3.5 release. This represents a major step forward for Centrafuse and its ever-growing developer community. The benefits to this new built-in app store are many-fold. First, we were able to remove some of the lesser used plugin apps from the Centrafuse base installer which makes for a more modular and lightweight installer with a smaller memory footprint and quicker load times. If you find yourself without something like OBD-II or Email, or need support for a particular radio, just open up the Market browser and download it.

Secondly, the Centrafuse Market streamlines and standardizes how plugin apps are created, deployed and updated. This means as a developer, you can quickly and easily push updates out to your users, avoiding the hassle of relying on detailed instructions, minimizing end-user install issues. Developers will be notified with instructions to sign up to submit Market applications later this week.

Attention End-users: To use Centrafuse Market, simply enter your Centrafuse.com My Account username and password into the Settings for the Market plugin app. Then start browsing the Market by pressing the Market icon from the home screen. Note: For those without vehicle internet access, you will soon be able to download these CFAPP packages directly from our website, and save them to a USB thumb drive for easy installation.

Attention Developers: Watch your inbox later this week for the official Market announcement and developer signup. We need everyone to convert their plugin apps to version 3.5 and submit them to the Market. The 3.5 SDK including the beta for Centrafuse Studio is almost ready and we should be announcing that towards the end of this week.

The next phase of the Market will allow PAY-FOR apps, allowing developers to set prices, which we feel will bring a much broader selection of apps as we attract more developers to the Centrafuse developer community. This is planned tentatively for release with the 3.6 update.

  • Not possible to scroll up or completely navigate the UI completely with a scroll wheel, or similar device (Powermate, SpaceNavigator), must use touchscreen.

Installation and Upgrade Notes
There is no update patch for 3.5. You must uninstall and reinstall 3.5 cleanly. Due to the change in underlying architecture with regard to Market, we could not make a patch-style upgrade available.

To ready your PC for Centrafuse Auto 3.5, follow these steps:

1. Uninstall Centrafuse
a. Open Control Panel, locate Programs and Features (or Add/Remove Programs on XP)
b. Locate any previous version of Centrafuse including any old map installers and uninstall each. Note – removing BlueSoleil should not be necessary
c. When prompted to keep user settings, be sure and answer NO. (We’re sorry, but you may not keep your user settings)
2. Manually clean out Program Files
a. Open My Computer and locate your system drive (usually C:\)
b. Open the C:\ drive and find the \Program Files\ folder
c. Under the \Program Files\ folder, locate the \Centrafuse\ folder
d. Under the \Centrafuse\ folder, locate the \Centrafuse Auto] folder
e. Right-click on the \Centrafuse Auto\ folder and select Delete to remove it
3. Install Centrafuse Auto 3.5
a. Download and run the new Centrafuse_3516.exe installer file available from your account page
b. This will install the base version of Centrafuse. At this time of writing, you will need to manually get the Destinator navigation engine plugin app from the Market in order to use Navigation maps. You can also get it from your GET INSTALLER FILES download page at your My Account page. Very soon this will be available on your account page as custom base installer that includes the Destinator package included.
c. If you have the Navigation edition, you will need to download your map installers from your My Account page.
Note: The 3.5 installer will remove any previous version of BlueSoleil (v 6.4) from your system and install the current BlueSoleil version 8.0 which is required for the Bluetooth to operate with the 3.5 Handsfree Phone functionality in Centrafuse 3.5.

Base Installer - (the 3.5 Trial installer IS the base installer)
The new installer for Centrafuse 3.5 is a “core” installer, meaning it only has the core plus a few basic “necessary” plugins included such as Web, Weather Market and WiFi. All other apps that you require must be downloaded from the Market. Download size is 176 MB.

Licensing for 3.5
For various reasons, we’ve opted to change the licensing just a bit this version so you will need to create a new license unlock file from your account page as your Hardware ID WILL CHANGE when this version is installed.

The good news is since it’s is a new trial version, you automatically get another 30 days of fully functional trial usage before you’re required to create a license unlock file, but your account page is ready to do that when you are, just visit your account page.

Log in to your account page to create a 3.5 license unlock file: https://www.centrafuse.com/Account

Navigation Updates/Upgrades
For current users of Centrafuse Auto Navigation: If you already have the newer (2009/2010) maps, you will still need to remove these maps and get the new map installer so that your quick search categories will work properly. The quick search categories are Food, Hotel, Shopping, and Fuel found on page 2 of the Navigation Menu.

If you still have the older maps (2006, 2007), then you do not need to remove your maps as the above issue with quick search buttons should not matter.

Map Upgrades
If you’d like to update to the newer maps, click the UPGRADE MAPS link in your account page.

That about sums it up. We will be sending a summarized version of this out via email Tuesday and later this week, we will be officially announcing the Market and developer sign up, followed by the much-awaited 3.5 SDK announcement. Stay tuned for more info.

Meanwhile, check out the latest Centrafuse Auto here at our new YouTube Channel, which we will be adding more videos as soon as we can crank them out. YouTube - CentrafuseAuto's Channel

Also, another part of the site to watch for is our new Knowledge Base, which will take the form soon of a new FAQ system for everything from config. issues, how-to guides, hardware integration, market developer and skinning questions, etc. Centrafuse | A Whole New Way

Thanks everyone, for your continued support. Enjoy!
